ABOUT US
Our Leadership
Dr. Marty Lajoie, PsyD
Psychological Director Founder
Hi, I’m Marty. I work with adults of all ages, supporting them through life challenges, relationships, transitions, addictions, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I believe symptoms often carry hidden wisdom—parts of us trying to get our attention and guide us toward change. My approach blends compassion, humor, and integrative practices like IFS and EMDR to help people reconnect with their inner strength, heal at the roots, and live with balance, vitality, and meaning.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at CIIS in San Francisco, where I researched psychedelic-assisted therapies for substance use disorders. My post-graduate training includes MAPS MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, IFS, DBT, EMDR, Brainspotting, Motivational Interviewing, and Nonviolent Communication. I’m also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional and Neurodynamic Breathwork facilitator.
Before founding Holistic Psychology, I served for many years as Clinical Director and psychological supervisor at Duffy’s Napa Valley Rehab and later directed psychological services and ketamine programs at Be the Change in Mental Health and Windows Health. My earlier careers in child protective youth residential counseling and music event production/performance in the SF bay area ‘90s rave scene continue to shape the way I create healing spaces today. I’ve also been an active contributing advocate of addiction recovery communities for over two decades, providing experiences that deeply inform my work as a psychologist.
Sara Gagnon, MA
Administrative Director
I'm passionate about health, wellness and education, and am a self-professed psychology nerd. I have a Masters of Arts in education, am a certified Holistic Nutrition Coach and have completed a 500-hour advanced yoga teacher training. I love learning languages and am fluent/literate in Spanish, and also speak French and Portuguese. I'm a loving mother of two small children. In my life before parenthood, I worked as a bilingual elementary school teacher. I was honored to play an integral role in establishing our sliding scale associate therapy program, to make mental health available to a wider diversity of people who need it. I love directing operations at Holistic Psychology, and am here for all your questions, scheduling needs, or anything else that arises.
Clay P. David
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Welcome. If you are carrying too much alone, you are in the right place. Whether you are new to therapy or returning after a hard season, you deserve care that honors your whole story.
I help reawaken what has been waiting to rise. This work is values based and trauma informed, blending clinical rigor with lived recovery experience. Strong therapeutic alliances matter here, and progress is tracked with care so change is not only felt, but observable in daily life. In our work together, we build emotional regulation for a high stimulus world, relapse prevention that holds up in real time, boundary setting in a 24 hour culture, and relationship repair after seasons of disconnection.
Neurobiological awareness is woven into the process, with specific support for highly sensitive and neurodivergent nervous systems. Sessions are structured, steady, and responsive, adapting to each person’s strengths, abilities, and circumstances. Core modalities include ACT alongside Solution Focused and Client Centered therapy, with practical skill building that translates beyond the session. When welcomed, transpersonal, Enneagram, and Jungian depth can be added to support meaning, identity integration, and growth.
Care is affirming across all intersections of life, including LGBTQIA plus identity, disability, culture, faith, class, age, and family roles.
A service rooted commitment to advocacy also informs the work, including long standing support for people living with disabilities, pairing compassion with creativity and a proactive, solution oriented approach.
Communication and curriculum strengths have been recognized through multiple honors, including two national Golden Apple Professor of the Year awards, the Victor Borge Legacy Award, five San Francisco Critics Circle awards, the San Francisco TITAN Award, and the Los Angeles BRAVO Award. These recognitions reflect a consistent ability to make complex material understandable, reduce shame, and support measurable growth.
No matter what has happened, your dignity remains intact, and your purpose can be rebuilt. When you are ready, I invite you to reach out.

Lisa Elliott
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Lisa is a calm, compassionate, and grounded therapist who creates a therapeutic space rooted in warmth, authenticity, and genuine curiosity. She believes that meaningful change begins when people feel seen, understood, and accepted, and she approaches each client with sincerity, respect, and a deep appreciation for their unique experiences.
Lisa enjoys working with individuals who are seeking a deeper understanding of themselves—whether they are navigating a life transition, experiencing challenges in relationships, adjusting to changing roles, struggling with anxious thoughts or simply wanting to cultivate a healthier relationship with themselves. She is particularly passionate about supporting clients in their roles as parents, partners, educators, and caregivers while helping them reconnect with their own needs, values, and inner strengths.
Her work is informed not only by her clinical training but also by her lived experiences as a former elementary school teacher, single parent, and a woman familiar with the complexities of midlife. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the challenges people face and strengthened her commitment to helping clients move through life's transitions with greater self-compassion, resilience, and intention.
Lisa's therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also enjoys working with couples and utilizes the Gottman Method as a framework to help partners strengthen connection, improve communication, and foster healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
