Our Leadership

Dr. Marty Lajoie, PsyD

Psychological Director Founder

Hi, I’m Marty. I work with adults of all ages, supporting them through life challenges, relationships, transitions, addictions, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I believe symptoms often carry hidden wisdom—parts of us trying to get our attention and guide us toward change. My approach blends compassion, humor, and integrative practices like IFS and EMDR to help people reconnect with their inner strength, heal at the roots, and live with balance, vitality, and meaning.

I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at CIIS in San Francisco, where I researched psychedelic-assisted therapies for substance use disorders. My post-graduate training includes MAPS MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, IFS, DBT, EMDR, Brainspotting, Motivational Interviewing, and Nonviolent Communication. I’m also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional and Neurodynamic Breathwork facilitator.

Before founding Holistic Psychology, I served for many years as Clinical Director and psychological supervisor at Duffy’s Napa Valley Rehab and later directed psychological services and ketamine programs at Be the Change in Mental Health and Windows Health. My earlier careers in child protective youth residential counseling and music event production/performance in the SF bay area ‘90s rave scene continue to shape the way I create healing spaces today. I’ve also been an active contributing advocate of addiction recovery communities for over two decades, providing experiences that deeply inform my work as a psychologist.

Sara Gagnon, MA

Administrative Director

I'm passionate about health, wellness and education, and am a self-professed psychology nerd.  I have a Masters of Arts in education, am a certified Holistic Nutrition Coach and have completed a 500-hour advanced yoga teacher training.  I love learning languages and am fluent/literate in Spanish, and also speak French and Portuguese.  I'm a loving mother of two small children.  In my life before parenthood, I worked as a bilingual elementary school teacher.  I was honored to play an integral role in establishing our sliding scale associate therapy program, to make mental health available to a wider diversity of people who need it.  I love directing operations at Holistic Psychology, and am here for all your questions, scheduling needs, or anything else that arises.

  • Schuyler Raine-Mustain, MA

    Psychological Associate Therapist

Hi, thanks for stopping by and checking out our About section! My name is Schuyler Raine-Mustain, and I’m a Psychological Associate registered with the State of California. Yes, I’m an endlessly curious, chronic observer of the human carnival. Yes, I’ve faced down my own shadow monsters—addiction (30 years in recovery), self-hatred, self-destruction—and lived to talk about it. And yes, I’m totally compelled to help you transform into your own version of a phoenix, butterfly, or mystical-whatever (insert your favorite creature here).

While finishing my bachelor’s in Sociology and my master’s in Psychology, I spent over two decades helping people find themselves through their hair. Yep—I'm a former hair stylist, a true Hairapist. It was in that chair I learned how to listen, how to tend, how to mend. Myself included.

Speaking of mending: I’ve completed over 350 hours of my own therapy in Internal Family Systems (IFS). I find it incredibly helpful in identifying the inner parts that run the show—and in becoming a better friend to all of them. We all deserve more kindness from within.

My therapeutic style is a blend of Recovery principles, IFS, Buddhism, presence, philosophical wondering, humor, emotional safety, and a strong dose of unconditional positive regard. Basically, I aim to be the kind of person I wish everyone had growing up.

Are you in physical, emotional, spiritual, or psychological pain? Heartbroken (or complicatedly heartbroken)? Addicted? Stuck in sports? In a struggling relationship? Grieving your childhood? Overwhelmed by parenting? I wouldn’t say I have a “specialty,” but I’ve either lived it, helped someone with it, been helped through it, studied it—or at the very least, I can sit with you in it.

Thanks for reading my little corner of the internet. I look forward to connecting.

Clay P. David

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Welcome. If you are carrying too much alone, you are in the right place. Whether you are new to therapy or returning after a hard season, you deserve care that honors your whole story.

I help reawaken what has been waiting to rise. This work is values based and trauma informed, blending clinical rigor with lived recovery experience. Strong therapeutic alliances matter here, and progress is tracked with care so change is not only felt, but observable in daily life. In our work together, we build emotional regulation for a high stimulus world, relapse prevention that holds up in real time, boundary setting in a 24 hour culture, and relationship repair after seasons of disconnection.

Neurobiological awareness is woven into the process, with specific support for highly sensitive and neurodivergent nervous systems. Sessions are structured, steady, and responsive, adapting to each person’s strengths, abilities, and circumstances. Core modalities include ACT alongside Solution Focused and Client Centered therapy, with practical skill building that translates beyond the session. When welcomed, transpersonal, Enneagram, and Jungian depth can be added to support meaning, identity integration, and growth.

Care is affirming across all intersections of life, including LGBTQIA plus identity, disability, culture, faith, class, age, and family roles.

A service rooted commitment to advocacy also informs the work, including long standing support for people living with disabilities, pairing compassion with creativity and a proactive, solution oriented approach.

Communication and curriculum strengths have been recognized through multiple honors, including two national Golden Apple Professor of the Year awards, the Victor Borge Legacy Award, five San Francisco Critics Circle awards, the San Francisco TITAN Award, and the Los Angeles BRAVO Award. These recognitions reflect a consistent ability to make complex material understandable, reduce shame, and support measurable growth.

No matter what has happened, your dignity remains intact, and your purpose can be rebuilt. When you are ready, I invite you to reach out.

Lisa Elliott

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Hello and welcome! My name is Lisa. I am a strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed therapist who believes that each individual already carries the capacity for growth and healing within them. My role is to provide a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for your lived experience, always recognizing the impact that trauma, relationships, and life circumstances can have on your emotional well-being.

I have experience implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) strategies to help clients build practical skills for managing anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance. I work with individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression, helping them better understand their thought patterns, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with a sense of hope and direction. I am currently receiving training in Gottman Level 1 methods for couples work and in Internal Family Systems (IFS), expanding my ability to support clients in understanding relational dynamics and the different “parts” of themselves that shape their internal world.

My practice places a strong emphasis on family of origin experiences and attachment styles, recognizing how early relationships influence present-day patterns in intimacy, self-worth, and emotional regulation. I am particularly skilled in working with individuals navigating mid-life challenges and transitions, as well as those struggling with low self-worth and self-esteem. Together, we explore long-standing narratives and gently challenge the beliefs that may be keeping you stuck.

As a former elementary school teacher, I bring years of experience working with children and families, along with a deep understanding of parenting challenges and family systems. This background allows me to support parents with empathy, practical insight, and a developmental lens.

I have also worked with individuals diagnosed with substance use disorders (SUD), particularly those in early recovery, and understand the courage it takes to pursue change. Additionally, I am knowledgeable about the unique challenges faced by individuals who have experienced homelessness or long-term incarceration. I approach this work with humility and an awareness of the systemic barriers that often intersect with personal struggles.

Above all, I believe therapy is a partnership. Whether you are seeking support through a difficult transition, healing from trauma, strengthening relationships, or rediscovering your sense of self, I am committed to walking alongside you with compassion, respect, and steady encouragement.

Let’s see how we can help.
