    Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’ve been in therapy for years, I would be honored to work with you! I provide experience and a diverse set of interventions in my practice catered to your individual needs and preferences.

We will work together to help you create a path moving forward, one that brings you peace and vitality. I will offer empathic listening and curiosity in order to help you to define your inner struggles and establish a deep sense of understanding. I will join you while we celebrate your progress and provide a safe space as we discuss your pain. I will provide gentle guidance and support in order to help you to feel empowered and optimistic while reinforcing your internal strengths and resources.

I combine breathwork, intuitive movement, energy clearing, and talk therapy in my practice and have completed Level I and II training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I specialize in depression, bereavement, trauma and PTSD, addiction, and relationship issues. I use an integrative approach and combine various modalities in my practice, including: Emotionally Focused, Gestalt, Gottman Method, Humanistic, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused Brief (SFBT), and Somatic.

I have spent the last four years working with marginalized communities in Mendocino, Napa, and Marin Counties and, most recently, in Washington State where I currently reside with my partner.

  • Schuyler Raine-Mustain, MA

    Psychological Associate Therapist

Hi, thanks for stopping by and checking out our About section! My name is Schuyler Raine-Mustain, and I’m a Psychological Associate registered with the State of California. Yes, I’m an endlessly curious, chronic observer of the human carnival. Yes, I’ve faced down my own shadow monsters—addiction (30 years in recovery), self-hatred, self-destruction—and lived to talk about it. And yes, I’m totally compelled to help you transform into your own version of a phoenix, butterfly, or mystical-whatever (insert your favorite creature here).

While finishing my bachelor’s in Sociology and my master’s in Psychology, I spent over two decades helping people find themselves through their hair. Yep—I'm a former hair stylist, a true Hairapist. It was in that chair I learned how to listen, how to tend, how to mend. Myself included.

Speaking of mending: I’ve completed over 350 hours of my own therapy in Internal Family Systems (IFS). I find it incredibly helpful in identifying the inner parts that run the show—and in becoming a better friend to all of them. We all deserve more kindness from within.

My therapeutic style is a blend of Recovery principles, IFS, Buddhism, presence, philosophical wondering, humor, emotional safety, and a strong dose of unconditional positive regard. Basically, I aim to be the kind of person I wish everyone had growing up.

Are you in physical, emotional, spiritual, or psychological pain? Heartbroken (or complicatedly heartbroken)? Addicted? Stuck in sports? In a struggling relationship? Grieving your childhood? Overwhelmed by parenting? I wouldn’t say I have a “specialty,” but I’ve either lived it, helped someone with it, been helped through it, studied it—or at the very least, I can sit with you in it.

Thanks for reading my little corner of the internet. I look forward to connecting.
